The injections work by helping to regulate food intake and appetite. It is a human (GLP-1) receptor agonist (GLP-1 analog). It is a naturally produced hormone in the body.
GLP-1 targets areas of the brain that help to regulate appetite, especially after eating. It also slows how quickly the stomach empties, which makes you feel fuller for longer. In addition to this, GLP1 meds enhances the production of insulin and regulates glcagon.

Some common side effects of GLP-1 meds include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, constipation. Some less common side effects include dizziness, headaches, and swelling of the hands and feet. In rare cases, semaglutide can cause serious side effects such as pancreatitis,angioedema, gallbladder disease,cholecystitis gallstones,renal failure, hypoglycemia, gastroparesis or allergic reactions are all possible but very rare.
